Our good friend Titus Haug visited us for a week during the year we lived in Mexico. We had spent the week working on music together and getting out to see some of the cenotes & pyramids of Yucatán. On the last day, we decided to climb to the rooftop at sunrise for me to sing this little song to you.

"There's something communal about Zach Winters' music, a hushed experience best seen, heard, and felt within an arm's reach. His music is a blend of acoustic folk that goes beyond Americana to something even more native. Zach's song, 'Fernweh (Shore)', begged to be shared while he played in our studio, like people gathering around a warm fire." — Musicbed

This song came to me by way of Brother Claude Ely, whose refrain I heard briefly on the radio and forgot for a time.
Flipping the bird and walking away isn't my story. I wrote this song when I was on working sabbatical, deciding whether or not to return to my old job... Moving on from a sure thing-even if you can't stand it-can be freaky. But a friend once told me, "Never make a decision based on fear."
We're releasing this single on the anniversary of my grandmother's passing-to redeem the day in a way. She was a wonderful woman who's life and prayers are still reverberating in the land of the living. And I'm sure she'd like the tune (mostly because she said she liked everything I ever did-including jumping on the trampoline with us far beyond considerations of age.

Zach Winters stops by the Walrus shop in OKC and sings "I Don't Want This Job". Oklahoma's favorite violinist, Amber Mattfield gives the song atmosphere with the Bellwether Analog Delay over her bewitching accompaniment.
